Life can be hard and feel difficult at times. Maybe you're feeling worried, low, or stressed about events or changes in your life. Maybe you are just not feeling yourself, or good about yourself and would like to feel better or make some changes.
I know it can be hard to talk about what is troubling you and to make that first step to reach out and ask for help. I will listen to you without judgment, with empathy, kindness, and care. Allowing you the opportunity to talk openly in a safe and confidential space so you can work through and explore the issues you are experiencing. If something is troubling you then no problem is too small.
I believe counselling is healing, transformative, and the ultimate self-care. The approach I use can help you explore and make sense of your thoughts and feelings. It will help you gain an increased understanding and awareness of yourself, enable you to find your own unique way of coping and dealing with life’s challenges, and work towards feeling better.
Hello my name is Chanel and I am a BACP registered Counsellor. I use a Person-Centred approach to put you at the centre of the counselling process, allowing you to set your own agenda and work at your own pace. I am passionate about helping people through counselling to empower themselves in order to improve their wellbeing and quality of life. I can work with you to find the right way for you.
I am experienced in helping clients with anxiety & low mood, low confidence / self-esteem, relationship issues, work related issues, bereavement, loss & grief, life transitions such as aging, menopause, retirement, significant birthdays, moving away to university, and personal development. I have helped many clients to heal, improve their wellbeing and to feel better.
My counselling experience includes working as part of Mind's Bereavement Counselling Service, offering bereavement counselling, and Mind's Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Service (IAPT) also known as Community Talking Therapies, offering counselling for those suffering from depression and anxiety. I have also worked with Southend Carers, offering counselling to un-paid carers and Open Access Counselling Service. At present, as well as having my own private practice, I also work with Mind in Enfield and Barnet offering open ended counselling to clients with a wide range of issues.

Personal therapy is a fundamental and compulsory component of any trainee counsellor course. I remember when I was a trainee, I found counselling training demanding both mentally and emotionally. I found the experience of personal therapy to be essential whilst training to be a counsellor. As well as experiencing the counselling relationship from the position of being a client, it also gave me the opportunity to work through my own issues, increased my personal development, increased my levels of self-awareness, and acceptance of self. In my opinion this contributed to me becoming a better counsellor.
Personal therapy during training can offer you a supportive space during your course to:
I know it can be financially challenging when you are training to be a counsellor, the cost of the course, supervision, memberships, and CPD is expensive. I offer a concessionary rate of £35 to trainee and student counsellors. If you are interested, please get in touch.
